About Us :: Alice Lafox

Hi, my name is Alice Lafox.

Yes, I live at the bottom of a shallow puddle of tenuous gas covering a thin layer on a small rocky planet inside the heliosphere of a yellow dwarf star, in a system with just one star. This star system is located in the Orion Spiral Arm of a small galaxy, which is part of the Local Group of galaxies. The Local Group is within the Laniakea Supercluster, which in turn is a part of the observable universe.

Beyond that, my knowledge is less precise, but it seems that the observable universe is a very insignificant part of our Cosmos, which itself is just a speck among quintillions of universes in our Multiverse. The Multiverse is just one of many Multiverses in our Megaverse, which in turn is just one of many Megaverses in our Hyperverse... Moreover, all of this could very well be a digital simulation or even a three-dimensional projection of the two-dimensional surface of a black hole in four-dimensional space.

As you might have guessed, I’m a physicist, specifically an astronomer who deals with music and makes a living through programming. Yes, writing programs pays more than creating good non-pop music and studying of Multiperiodic semiregular variable stars. Besides, it’s incredibly fascinating to spend my free time solving complex algorithmic problems when I’m not making music, and engaging in music when I’m not programming.

Now about music — I’m a member of the art-rock duo "Darwin's Cat" where I play guitar and sing. I have amazing bass player Oleh Lafox, and we play music together. Our songs tell stories about the cosmos in which I was born and live, and about my vision of the universe. Additionally, I incorporate absolutely fantastic guitar solos into each song. Yes, you already figured it out — all the guitar solos in all our songs reflect the incredibly complex and beautiful processes of our universe. This could be the accretion of gas onto a neutron star, the functioning of synapses in the brain of an intelligent being, the bifurcation points in the history of intelligent societies, and even stock market fluctuations. All of this is part of my vision of music and my vision of the universe.
